The design of this pop up bar design to be with-in the Sydney Festival, was to be dynamic and unique with bold colours and inspired by natural materials. It had to be light and easy to pack-up and away for employees, designed to be a temporary affair and to leave little to no impact on the environment it was placed in.
The planning of it's functionality had to be perfect, with room for all the storage it required to funcition fluently with-in it's design, as it's location allowed for no other alternative space nearby.
SYDNEY FESTIVAL POPUP BAR
2015
The Pop-up Bar’s design was to be based on a ‘L’ like shaped modular system that could be repeated through out the festivals design.
Veneer and Laminate material finishes were used to create unique visuals and textures while still leaving the materials light and easy to move for Sydney Festival employees.
These spatial block diagrams were designed on 3DS Max to create a better understanding for the client while designing the space to ensure that the end design reached it’s ultimate functional potential. The plan interprets the areas of functionality in 3D, responds to the client objectives and needs and responds to the possible consumers’ response and use of the commercial environment.

Inspired by the ‘L’ like modular shape design of the Sydney Festival, 3D Model experiments were carried out on 3DS Max to play with the unique variations and arrays of ways the shape could be used throughout the space and Festival.
A series of different experimental tools were used to twist and morph and play with the shape and it’s limitations. Several ‘canopy’ like concepts were created through this and then played with until eventually a final design was created.
Through this process other concepts formed which provided further ways to include this modular piece through out the design through numerous furniture pieces.
